On Thursday, American Airlines has announced a very different new policy that will require passengers to prove that the batteries in the luggage can be removed if required.

Global airlines body, The International Air Transport Association (IATA), has told that it could cause a huge issue for industry-wide standards on the new luggage soon, after some US airlines have issued their own restrictions on using smart bags, whose manufacturers include brand companies such as BlueSmart, Raden or Away.

From January 15, 2018, around last week of January, they would require the battery to be removed before allowing the bags on board as said by US-based carriers American Airlines, Delta, and Alaska Airlines.

Smart suitcases have nowadays become very much popular just because of the smart features like bag tracking, phone-charging ports, remote-controlled locks, and also having weight scales to check themselves that your bag is within airline limits or not. All the "smart" features that are used in these bags are powered by a lithium-ion battery.
