India ranked 109th in mobile internet speed below than Pakistan and Nepal, list released by Ookla

In our everyday life we all are struggling while surfing the Internet on our mobile phone. Ookla, the popular Internet speed testing service has released their Speedtest Global Index of November for the internet speeds in different countries on broadband and on mobile. As usual India did not fare very well, India ranked 109th out of 122 countries in the world for mobile internet speed, but in broadband speed fare a bit better with 76th out of 133 countries. Most interesting thing is that India ranked below than Pakistan and Nepal. Pakistan ranked 89th with 13.08mbps, while Nepal has 10.97mbps of internet speed.

According to Ookla mobile internet speed in India is 8.80mbps, while it was 8.83mbps in October but yes it is higher than 7.65mbps which was the average speed in the beginning of the year 2017.

Currently, Norway has the fastest internet speed of 62.66mbps, while Netherland ranked 2nd with 53.01mbps, Iceland ranked 3rd with 52.78mbps, Singapore ranked 4th with 51.50mbps and Malta is in the 5th spot with 50.46 mbps.

While comparing India with their neighbouring countries, China is on 31st rank (31.22mbps), Pakistan is on 89th rank (13.08 mbps), Myanmar is on 94th (11.72mbps), Nepal is on 99th (10.97mbps) and Sri Lanka is on 107th rank (9.32mbps), they all are having good Internet speed than India.

When comes to broadband internet speed India is fare better than mobile speed. India ranked 76th in that list with average speed of 18.82mbps, highest than ever for this year, which was started with an average of 12.12mbps.

Currently, Singapore is on the top with an average home broadband speed of 153.85Mbps, Iceland is on 2nd with 147.51Mbps, Hong Kong is on 3rd with 133.94Mbps, South Korea is on 4th with 127.45Mbps and Romania is on 5th with 104.46Mbps.

As far as India’s neighbour countries are concerned, China ranked 23rd with 61.24Mbps, Sri Lanka ranked 71st with 19.26Mbps, Bangladesh ranked 85th with 16.14Mbps, Nepal ranked 92nd with 14.05Mbps and Pakistan ranked 126th 6.13Mbps.

However, reports suggest that things could improve significantly for India in 2018 and India stands a good chance of renewing the development of internet.
