The Central govt. has extended the date of linking the AADHAR and PAN card date to the bank. It is officially announced on Friday, 08 Dec 2018 that Bank account holders can now link their AADHAR and PAN with the bank till March 31, 2018.
The Ministry of Finance said that “It has come to notice that some of the taxpayers have not yet completed the linking of PAN with AADHAR. Therefore, to facilitate the process of linking, it has been decided to further extend the time of linking of AADHAR with PAN till 31st March 2018.”
Under provision of Section 139AA of Income-tax Act, 1961, with effect from August 1, 2017, it is mandatory to all taxpayers having AADHAR Number or Enrolment Number link the same with their PAN (Permanent Account Number).
The Supreme Court has said that there are batch of application regarding interim relief on the mandatory linking of AADHAR with different schemes including bank accounts and mobile numbers. As they said that next week a Constitution bench would be heard the matter. The Attorney General KK Venugopal indicated that deadline would be extended till 31 March, 2018.
