BHU Students asked to write essay on ‘BJP’ in first semester exam

After asking the questions on Manu on globalization and GST in Kautilya's Arthshashtra, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) were asked to write an essay on BJP (Bhartiya Janta Party). The question were asked to the MA Political Science first semester students at BHU.

The question was titled as "Write an essay on Bhartiya Janta Party" for 15 marks in the paper of "Indian Political System: Theoretical and Structural Aspects". In the same paper students were also asked to describe about Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and this was a short type of question.

A student, declined to be named had said, “The questions were very easy. Question number 6 is about writing an essay on BJP. It was easy. The party is in power at the centre and in the state. The queries really amused me.”

When asked to Prof Kaushal Kishore Mishra, Department of Political Science, who had set the question paper, said, “Political parties are part of the MA previous year (first year) syllabus. So, the two questions were incorporated in the question paper. Examination for the paper already took place. No student had any objection to it.”

When asked why he not chose any other political party instead of BJP, he said "At the time of setting the paper, the BJP came to mind and he framed a long-answer question on it."

He also said, “There is nothing intentional. A short answer question about AAP is also there in the paper.”
